Summer Recap

First and most important thing I did this summer...marriage!!
On April 29, 2011 I married Bianca Martinez Rosenhan in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  It was great.  There was even some snow on the ground!

All summer long I spent day after day working on and perfecting my advertising application.  It took a lot of hard work and time.  I had to make a seven-page portfolio and a minute long video.  I find out next month if I get accepted.

I worked 40-50 hours a week all summer long.  It was great.  I got to explore the mysteries tunnels at the Missionary Training Center.  I spent many days in the ceilings at the MTC as well finding hidden boxes of candy.  I helped make it possible for BYUTV and ESPN to broadcast the sporting events on BYU's campus.  The best part of it was working at the football stadium.  I walked on the field, we interviewed each other in the post game press room, where Bronco tells us his feelings.  Also, my friend broke his finger at the stadium too.  So remember when you are watching BYU football games, I am part of the reason you can watch it!!

Bianca and I spent a weekend in a Deer Valley Lodge and had a blast.  We rode the City Lift and ate a $100 dollar meal (it was part of the package).  We went and watched The Flying Aces (It's a show where skiers jump 50-60 feet in the air and land their tricks in the water).  It was such a good, fun weekend.

Of course just like every summer, it was my birthday.  I turned the big 23.  I didn't want a party, so Bianca and I just celebrated it by ourselves.  It was great.

We also went on our annual family campout (with my family).  We had tons of four-wheelers and a RZR!  It was way fun, minus the dirt road to the camp site was 11 miles long.

We also went boating and my six-year-old niece knee boarded on her first try!!

Finally to end the summer, Bianca and I went up to the Eastern Idaho State Fair.  We only went for the weekend, but it was fun.  We saw a hypnotist and chanted a random kids name so that he could be hypnotized.

So in conclusion my first summer as a married man was great!!!!!

A weekend without the wife

It's funny that when you are single you search for a spouse, then you get married and the whole dating scene is gone.  We still go on dates, but they are so much better now.  I know that I am not wasting my money on someone else's wife, because she is mine.  I don't have to try and figure out if she likes me or if she will go out with me again.  It is great.  What sucks is when she goes out of town and I am left all alone.

So Bianca went to Blackfoot for the weekend leaving me here alone.  What did I do while she was gone?  Hardly anything!  I went to work and the went to my parents for Friday night and Saturday to work.  Sunday I spent alone in our apartment.  I cleaned the house and rearranged stuff and even found some picture frames with glass in our dumpster!!!  I love being poor and finding stuff that people think is garbage.  Anyway, this was the first time that we were not together in the near 3 months we have been married and it stunk.  I thought about her the whole time and missed her a lot.  She left me 12 easter eggs to find filled with cute notes.  I hope that she likes the flowers that I bought her!!

Times to Treasure

I would like to start my post off with a stocker picture of He Is We!!

Sometimes you just fall upon a great day! Recently I have been entering contests on my995fm.com and recently I won two contests. The first contest was a free 1-hr massage at Massage Envy. The second one was free tickets to an acoustic show with my favorite band "He Is We" and with "Andrew Allen". It was sweet. A few days before I won those tickets, I won a ticket to their concert later that night, because Bianca and my first dance was to "All About Us" by He Is We.
Maceys fed us yummy food!

Andrew Allen at My99.5

He Is We at My99.5

The reason I called this post "Times to Treasure" is because at the acoustic concert Bianca and I got to meet Trevor and Rachel from He Is We along with Andrew Allen. I used to have a dream, far before I met Bianca, that I would get a picture with Rachel kissing my cheek. Well I got a picture with Bianca, Trevor, and Rachel, but decided I no longer need that kiss. It was so cool to meet the band that has had such a positive influence in my life.
Hangin out with Andrew Allen

Also with Rachel and Trevor!

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE TYPES OF OPPORTUNITIES!!

The reason I say that is that a few years ago Bianca went to a concert of this girl named Taylor Swift, Maybe you have heard of her. At that time no one really had heard of her. Bianca had the chance to meet this girl and didn't. To this day it is one of her biggest regrets, so if you ever get the chance to meet your heroes, or a band that you love....take advantage of it. My philosophy is to try and become someone they know or recognize.

Any way to finish my story...we were at the acoustic gig and won a raffle for two tickets for that nights show. We decided that since we had tickets already that we would have Trevor and Rachel sign them.
I just won two free tickets!

Jump forward a few hours, after we got out of the Salt Lake Temple. We were at the will call/guest list window, when I found out that I actually had won two tickets for the Facebook contest, and so now we had three tickets plus the two we had signed. My first thought was to sell the one extra ticket, so we did for $10. That was dumb because we could have got much more for it, but I was too nice.
Ya, I was on the guest list.

Next thing we know is that the show is sold out and a bunch of little middle schoolers can't get in and have money with them to buy tickets. Bianca and I were thinkers and went back to the truck and got the two signed tickets. We made a deal that we would sell them, but once they got into the concert then we would want them back, so we sold them for $50 bucks!!

The concert was rockin and both Andrew Allen and He Is We were sweet music to my ears. The drummer for He Is We pulled out is Cajon again ( a Cajon is a wood box that can act as a drum). It was sweet and I went home and bought one for my birthday. It was such a good day.
1. I got to spend all day with my wife
2. I got to go to the temple
3. I got to meet my favorite band
4. I got a picture with them and their autographs
5. We made $60 dollars so both Bianca and I got shirts
6. We were their with friends. (Abbie & Preston, Abbie's brother Jaxson & his girlfriend, Bianca's friend Lindsay & Tyson)
7. We ate at Crown Burger!
8. I found a new artist to love ( Andrew Allen)
9. I realized how much I love playing music again
10. I loved every minute of my day!!

To cap the night off we saw this!!

I am A Mormon!!

Most people around the world view Mormons as some kind of colt that has weird beliefs and does weird rituals. Many say that Mormons don't believe in Christ and have horns. Many believe that Mormons don't deserve to be recognized. I am writing this blog post for those of you who lack faith, understanding, knowledge or confidence in the beliefs of the Mormons.

The Mormon church is actually called "The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". So those people who say that we don't believe in Christ, I say please stop being ignorant and learn our beliefs. Our church is named after Christ. As stated in our first Article of Faith, " We abelieve in bGod, the Eternal Father, and in His cSon, Jesus Christ, and in the dHoly Ghost." Christ is the center of our belief. We believe in the Atonement of Christ. We believe that through His Atonement we may be saved from our sins. We believe that God sent us His Son to do mighty works, so that we could return to live with God. We believe god to be our Heavenly Father. We believe God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost to be three separate beings, but one in purpose.

Many people call us Mormons because we believe that God preserved and eventually gave to us another set of scripture that is separate from the Bible, called "The Book of Mormon". The Book of Mormon is very similar to the Bible, but it is the story of God's children who lived on the American continents. As stated in John, there were other sheep who were not of the fold in Jerusalem and the area that Christ preached. We believe that The Book of Mormon is the history of some of the other sheep that Christ spoke about. We believe that God and Christ directed and taught these people, just like they did with those spoken of in the Bible.

I testify that The Book of Mormon is true doctrine revealed to God's prophets by God, and given to us in this day to give us more guidance and help to follow the Gospel of Christ.

The Book of Mormon was revealed to a man by the name of Joseph Smith in the 1800's. Joseph was a farm boy who lived in New York. He was from a very religious family and visited many churches searching for the truth. He found good in all the different churches, but found that they all contradicted each other. While reading the Bible he had many questions about what was taught in the Bible and wanted answers. One day he read in the book of James, chapter 1, verse 5, which reads: "If any of you lack bwisdom, let him ask of God, that cgiveth to all men liberally, and dupbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph read this and felt the need to pray to God for help. On a Spring morning he went to a grove of trees out by his house. He found a place where he could kneel down, being all alone, and he began to pray to his God. He gave the following account of his experience:

"After I had retired to the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me, and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so, when immediately I was aseized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick bdarkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction. But, exerting all my powers to acall upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into bdespair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of clight exactly over my head, above the brightness of the dsun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself adelivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I bsaw two cPersonages, whose brightness and dglory defy all description, estanding above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My fBeloved gSon. Hear Him!"

I know that this happened. i know God lives and I believe in Christ. He is my Savior, my Redeemer, my Brother, and my Friend!

Pizza Pie Cafe

Unfortunately I don't have pictures to prove it, but Pizza Pie Cafe is great!! Bianca and I went on a date the other day to eat and play. It was my first time at PPC and let me tell you the second we walked in I knew I was doomed. I walked over to the Pizza table and gazed over the selection of all you can eat pizza choices. I saw out of the corner of my eye the desert pizzas and I went bonkers. So I immediately snatched up 6 pieces of pizza and went back to the table. Within minutes I was back to get another 6 pieces. We were there for about 15 minutes and Bianca had a salad and some pizza and I had 17 pieces of pizza, 6 of those being desert pizzas.

If you are looking for a good pizza place to eat that is not really that expensive, I would highly recommend PPC, because it was delicious, cheap and really hard to stop eating. I want more of it everyday.

THE JIMMER

When I was a little boy my dad brain washed me to be a BYU fan. We had season tickets to football for years, until I started playing and we couldn't go. I remember getting Cosmos signature on my BYU cap. I remember James Dye was my football hero. I remember going to basketball games as well. I always had fun. I loved BYU. Then my neighbor played for the Utes basketball team when they went to the Final Four and I suddenly became a Ute fan. After he left the team I just became a neutral fan. I didn't care for either team really. If BYU was playing Utah then I would cheer for Utah just to make my dad mad.

Suddenly I decided I was going to go to BYU for school, something I never thought I would do. The first year I just casually went to school and kinda watched some games, but still was neutral. That all began to change as I went to a football game with girlfriend at the time, Bianca. It was way fun and I caught one of the football player pink sweat bands. Then it all started...
Jimmer stepped out on the court for his fourth and final season as a BYU Cougar. I knew who Jimmer was, and I knew that I didn't like him, because I heard he was super arrogant and cocky. Little did I know that the person I thought I didn't like would change everything.
At the beginning of the season I would watch the games on TV, because I was too cheap to buy tickets. Then I thought I would surprise Bianca by buying her tickets to a game for her birthday. By this time I had the Jimmer bug and was sharing it with anyone like a virus. My vocabulary quickly was embedded with Jimmer. This all blew up after Jimmer dominated San Diego State, the #4 team in the nation. I regret not going to that game, but I made up for it by borrowing tickets from friends for a few more games. By the end of the season Jimmer was more talked about than how much everyone dreaded finals. The best part of this whole Jimmermania, it that I talked my dad into taking me and my brother to Vegas for the MWC Championship. As a result of that, I stood there and screamed and cheered louder than ever as I witness history. I was there when Jimmer broke multiple records: Danny Ainge's all time scoring record, MWC Tournament high score, person bests and more. He scored 52 points. 3 Pointer after 3 Pointer the crowd went even more crazy. I couldn't even here myself think. It was the greatest game ever!!

Now the Jimmer era at BYU is over and we all wait to see what his future holds in the NBA. Many think he will be great, others think not. I hope that Jimmer will show everyone that he is a fighter and that if his weakness is defense, then his defense will soon be a strong point. He has what it takes and will do what it takes.

I can't wait to be able to tell my kids that I witnessed "The Jimmer"!!

PS Jimmer was 6 time POY and broke multiple records!!
